The Mzantsi Jazz Awards (MJA) aim to recognize excellence in Jazz Music in South Africa. LN Wines jumped to the opportunity when we were asked to partner in celebration of the art of Jazz music.
Celebrate the musicianship that is Jazz at the 3rd Annual Mzantsi Jazz Awards, LN Wines brought its flare as the connector and ice breaker. As the artist and patrons enjoyed the sounds of Jazz, they were wow to a beautiful experience of discovering that Lata Ngoasheng is not on a wine lover but also has magic fingers on the piano.
Jazz lovers came out in their numbers to listen to the soothing sound of jazz music and the artists that make the music. Mingling and getting to know more about jazz, LN Wines felt right at home as a celebratory wine.
The relatively unknown Zarcia beat out stiff competition from albums by Mandla Mlangeni’s Tune Recreation Committee and The Mill, as well as Bokani Dyer Trio, whose Neo Native was lauded widely by critics for its Afrocentric fusion style after its release last year.
The awards ceremony took place at the multi-purpose World of Yamaha venue in Johannesburg on Saturday and coincided with National Women’s Day on 9 August.
The Best Contemporary Jazz Album Award went to Gabisile Motuba’s Goddess of Creation while Ndivhuho NL took home the Best Jazz Song Award for his composition ‘Thungununu Nemulambo’.
